Read on for a copy of the November 2011 eNewsletter Greeting from You will all be glad to hear no doubt that I don't have much to talk about this month. Well... Firstly Congratulations to James Atkinson. James qualified to be part of the Canadian Eventing Team at the Pan Am Games in Mexico. Better still he had a 7th place individual finish, and was part of the Silver Medal Team. Well done James and of course the rest of the team. As many of you know, James spend most of his life South of the border, but we are always pleased to hear of any accomplishments. The recent MHC Council of Clubs was very well attended. I hope all those attending found it worthwhile. We were pleased with both the response, and the questions and ideas that were forthcoming and I would like to thank all those participating. As I wrote this there was a General Performance Judging Seminar being held at Sport Manitoba. Lorraine Gilchrist from Saskatchewan led the participants in a very lively meeting. There is a huge amount of work involved in being a GP judge and the people attending had a great deal to add to the discussion. I am very impressed firstly by the commitment of these judges and by their knowledge. With officials like this our sport is in good hands. This is the time of year, when Clubs are having their Awards and AGMs and deciding on schedules for next year. Please could you let Horse Council know of any competitions, clinics and special events planned for next year, so we can get them on a calender and onto the website. Many of the Clubs at the Council did ask that this information be posted so people can avoid conflicts. I would also like to remind you that a list of the officers of each club is supposed to be supplied to HC with the club membership renewal package, among other requirements. OFFICE NOTE: A list of events was and is requested with the MHC club membership renewal package (issued annually February/March); please do not neglect this request. The 2012 Calendar of Events will be posted here: http://manitobahorsecouncil.ca/index.php/calendar-of-events where the 2011 Calendar exists currently. I am particularly pleased with yet another change at the Bird's Hill site, the Grand Prix ring is being enlarged with a view to run more Derby types of classes and we are looking at adding trees to the berm east of the Dressage Ring. Thank you to all who supported us in 2011 please continue that suport in 2012, once again a request. Please tell us your concerns, let us know what we can do for your club or group. I am off to Toronto for a few days to represent the Provinces at one of the 2 face to face EC Board Meetings, and to work with the JSC on the Accord. Wish me luck. In the meantime, don't forget to apply for your premises ID if you have livestock, on your property. This programme has already proven usefull in the floods earlier this year and during the widespread brush fire in the SE recently. Geri Sweet MHC President |
